What is PEAP?

T&E Care’s Post-Secondary Education Assistance Program (PEAP) helps motivated students from financially challenged households pursue post-secondary education and career training. PEAP supports students who have demonstrated academic commitment but face financial barriers that could prevent them from continuing their education after high school.

What PEAP Provides

PEAP provides tuition gap assistance and other education-related support to help students attend and complete their post-secondary education plans which may include traditional four-year colleges, community colleges, trade or vocational schools, and technical training or licensure programs.

Who PEAP Serves

PEAP students must live in Tredyffrin or Easttown Townships and typically attend Conestoga High School, but can attend other area schools. Students are identified during their sophomore or junior year by school counselors or community members. All PEAP students must demonstrate a consistent academic profile, good attendance history, show community involvement and/or work experience outside of school, and have a clear plan to pursue post-secondary education or career training.

Mentorship and Guidance

PEAP uniquely combines financial assistance with mentorship and guidance, recognizing that financial barriers are often accompanied by informational and navigational challenges, especially for first-generation students. PEAP mentors assist students and families with:

  • Helping students understand the college or program application process (e.g., timelines, requirements, deadlines)
  • Evaluating post-secondary options (e.g., program fit based on interests and career goals, cost, financial aid packages, long-term affordability)
  • Financial literacy (e.g., understanding financial aid award letters, loans vs. grants, budgeting for post-secondary education or programs)

The Goal of PEAP

While T&E Care’s core mission focuses on short-term financial assistance during times of crisis, PEAP addresses the root causes of financial instability, focusing on prevention by:

  • Fostering financial independence and self-sufficiency through stable employment
  • Breaking cycles of generational poverty
  • Reducing long-term reliance on financial assistance

By helping students overcome financial barriers to education, T&E Care supports completion of post-secondary degrees and credentials to promote future financial stability for them and their families.
