School Meal Program

The T&E Care School Meal Program supports local children in the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District whose families earn too much to qualify for the federal free or reduced-price school meals (National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs) but still struggle to feed their children. The T&E Care program provides monthly deposits into qualifying student meal accounts, helping ensure they have access to nutritious food.

For many children, school meals may be the most reliable (or only) meals they receive all day. Access to nutritious meals supports the ability to concentrate and  perform academically. Without this support, children can stay hungry, struggle to focus, and fall behind their peers.

The income thresholds for the federal program are very low; families with incomes at or below 130% of the federal poverty level are eligible for free meals, and those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price meals.

For the 2025-2026 school year, that meant a family of four needed to earn $41,795 or less to receive free meals or $59,478 or less to receive reduced-price meals.

Families who earn just above the federal eligibility limits then face the full cost of school lunches which can quickly become a financial burden. The T&E Care School Meal Program aims to bridge this gap by providing financial support to families in this transition zone so their children don’t go hungry and can thrive academically and socially.

School Meal Program

From the Head of the TESD Food Services Department: I spoke to a woman Friday who no longer qualifies for Free/Reduced and who wasn’t going to send in a F&R form, and when I told her about the T&E Care [School Meal Assistance] Program, she wept. It’s all worth it!

I have to say, having money in their school’s lunch accounts from your program makes them feel “normal” and giddy – and I’m soooooo grateful! Thank you so so much. We cannot wait to get back on our feet again…

Please know I have been raving about this program this last year when our son’s counselor notified us of what you do – the money in their lunch accounts have been a saving grace for our kiddos. Many thanks for your support in action.
